Preselling is one of those “old time” marketing copy devices that has been getting the job done since way before the web came along. You have to do a little more if you want to learn how to write this unique form of copy, and it is not like writing an article or the usual form of web content, either.
How you structure your presell copy will depend on several factors, but one possible approach is to talk about the product creator if you want. If you can position that so it helps to build credibility, then that will be a plus factor. You do have to be careful about how much you say because remember it is all about what is in it for the reader, and they really may not care at all about the vendor. All readers, you and us too, are constantly wondering about what we are reading about. Others relate to things like value, for example. Do I get a good feeling from this, overall? Those things can be worked into preselling, but they usually are not so you have to just exercise good judgment. You know what your most desired response from your readers is, so that is the goal of your presell copy.
The intent of solid preselling is to provide data, facts and information that makes people raise their eyebrows, and achieving that naturally eliminates any sense of selling. Giving enough facts and supporting information that is product or service specific in a presell will support your main points along with enlightening the reader. It really will help things if your presell is interesting to read and not just dryly presenting facts, etc.
Your copy will allow the reader to proceed to the sales copy knowing much more about what is on the page, and that should have a positive effect. Once you are done, then add your tracking script and see what happens, and that is all anyone can ever do.
It is a known fact among experienced marketers that your choice of product to promote will figure in heavily with your success. But not only does the product have to be genuinely good, you must also feel good and positive about selling it otherwise that will find a way to come through in your efforts. So then it just depends on you, but for most people that positive feeling must be there or else their efforts will not be effective. It is normal to see things in whatever you are promoting that could be better, but it is always a matter of degree. Your prospect shouldn’t feel like he/she has been cheated after making the purchase.
